Welcome to the Raising Calculus to the Surface project site. The goal of this project is to develop a new method for teaching and learning multivariable calculus in which students actively explore central ideas through measurement and conjecture. Using physical models with a dry-erase finish and accompanying instruments, students can draw, measure, and grasp concepts geometrically and investigate key ideas before formal introduction in lecture. Read a more detailed project summary on the NSF website. We will be using this site to support our own collaborative work, provide interested teachers with access to project resources, and share our findings with the world. Access to many of our project resources requires that you become a registered member of this site and sign in. If you are interested, please contact us.
